Burriana Beach — Nerja's Most Popular Beach
The longest and liveliest beach in Nerja, Burriana offers golden sand, water sports, excellent chiringuitos and easy access — the go-to spot for families and sun-seekers.
Burriana Beach (Playa de Burriana) is Nerja's best-known and most complete beach. Its long stretch of coarse sand, lively promenade and excellent facilities make it the natural choice for families, groups and anyone who wants everything on their doorstep.
Facilities & Restaurants
Burriana is lined with chiringuitos (beach bars) and restaurants, the most famous being Ayo's, legendary for its enormous open-fire paella cooked in front of you. Sunbed and parasol hire is available along most of the beach. Showers, toilets and a lifeguard service operate throughout the summer season.
Water Sports
This is the main hub for kayak and paddleboard tours along the Maro-Cerro Gordo cliffs. You can also hire pedalos, try jet skiing or book a boat trip. Several dive centres operate from the eastern end of the beach.
Getting There & Parking
Burriana is a 10-minute walk downhill from the town centre. A pay car park sits at the western end; free street parking is available on surrounding roads but fills early in summer. Arrive before 10 am for the best spots.
Good to Know
- The water is generally calm and suitable for children, with a gentle slope.
- The eastern (quieter) end of the beach is less crowded and popular with snorkellers.
- Beach wheelchair service is available during summer.
