Plaza de España, formerly known as Paseo Nuevo, is one of the most central squares in Nerja. Located just behind the Town Hall and the tourist office, and built above the Balcón de Europa car park, it occupies a strategic position within the route through the town centre.

Officially inaugurated under its current name in 2011, the square is an open space dominated by the Spanish flag and surrounded by distinctive buildings. In one of its corners is the Nerja Museum, making it a natural stopping point between several of the main attractions in the historic centre.

Its location makes it a convenient reference point for getting your bearings and starting to explore the town. A stroll through Plaza de España lets you connect at a glance with the institutional and tourist heart of Nerja.
