El Pinarillo (Recreational Area)
Trail description
El Pinarillo is a recreational area set within the Natural Park of Sierras de Tejeda, Almijara and Alhama, around 6 kilometres from the Nerja Cave car park. It is one of the most accessible and enjoyable routes in the area, perfect for families and walkers looking for a peaceful stroll in nature.
The path follows a well-maintained forest track that climbs gently through pine woodland. The name "El Pinarillo" refers to the majestic pine trees that define the landscape, providing welcome shade particularly during the warmer months.
The recreational area is equipped with picnic tables, benches and rest spots, making it an ideal destination for a day out in the countryside. While the area was previously accessible by car, vehicle access has since been closed to protect the natural surroundings, meaning the only way to reach it is on foot.
Along the way, you can enjoy views of the valley and the coastline, and it is common to spot various bird species and, if you are lucky, Spanish ibex in the more remote sections of the trail.
