Merendero Montemar
A long-standing beachside chiringuito by Burriana beach where fresh fish and quality fried dishes make the wait for a table worthwhile
There are places in Nerja that work because they do things well, with no more secrets than that. Merendero Montemar, right on the edge of Burriana beach, is one of them. With more than 900 reviews on Google and a rating of 4.1, it is no coincidence that on Sundays you have to wait to get a seat.
The menu leans towards seafood treated simply: espetos, clams, mussels and garlic prawns that impress without fuss. But there is one dish that regulars never skip: fried aubergines with cane honey, cut very thinly and fried in a way that several customers describe outright as the best thing about the visit. For those who do not eat fish, there are also more than decent vegetarian options, something not in abundance in the chiringuitos in the area.
The service is quick even when the place is full, and the sea views from the terrace make a simple meal become something rather more memorable.
