El Playazo Beach is the longest beach in Nerja and one of the municipality’s best spots for those looking for space and a greater sense of freedom. Situated to the west of the town, it stretches out in front of an area of farmland and retains a less urbanised landscape than the beaches close to the centre.
Its long stretch of dark sand and gravel makes it possible to find peaceful spots even during the busiest months. It is common to see visitors walking along the seafront, doing sport or enjoying an informal meal in one of the traditional establishments located close to the beach.
El Playazo shows a different side of Nerja: open, agricultural and less shaped by urban development. It is especially recommended for spending several hours by the Mediterranean, admiring the mountains of the Axarquía and enjoying some of the broadest sunsets on the Nerja coast.
