Nerja Fair

The Nerja Fair, in honour of Virgen de las Angustias and San Miguel, is the municipality’s main festival: a week of marquees, concerts, day and night fair celebrations, gastronomy and tradition.

The Nerja Fair, in honour of the Virgen de las Angustias and San Miguel Arcángel, is the most important festival in the Nerja calendar. During a week in October, the municipality celebrates its patron saint festivities with a programme that combines religious tradition, gastronomy, music and fun for all ages.

Day and night fair

The fair is experienced in two settings. The day fair is held in the centre of Nerja, with horse parades, rebujito in the streets and a relaxed, family-friendly atmosphere. The night fair moves to the fairground, with marquees, rides, concerts and performances until the early hours.

Procession and tradition

The central religious event is the procession of the Virgen de las Angustias, patron saint of Nerja, which makes its way through the streets of the centre accompanied by the Municipal Band and hundreds of worshippers. It is a deeply moving moment for the people of Nerja.

Gastronomy

The marquees at the fairground and the bars in the centre offer the best of local cuisine: spit-roasted sardines, fried fish, rebujito and traditional sweets. The Nerja Fair is one of the best opportunities to eat well and cheaply.

Queen and Knight Gala

The festival week includes the traditional Queen and Knight Gala, an event that selects the fair’s representatives from among the young people of the municipality. There are also competitions, children's activities and sporting events.
