Nerja celebrates Christmas with festive lighting, the municipal nativity scene, concerts, Christmas markets, New Year’s Eve at the Balcón de Europa and the Three Kings Parade.

Christmas in Nerja is a special time that transforms the municipality with festive lighting, nativity scenes, concerts and markets. From the beginning of December until Three Kings’ Day, Nerja offers a wide programme of activities for all ages.

Christmas lights

The main streets in the centre are dressed with Christmas lights that create a magical atmosphere, especially around the Balcón de Europa, Calle Pintada and Plaza de España.

Municipal nativity scene and markets

The Town Hall installs a large-format municipal nativity scene in an emblematic spot in the centre. In addition, Christmas markets are organised with handicrafts, local products and gifts.

New Year’s Eve at the Balcón de Europa

Thousands of people gather at the Balcón de Europa to see out the year with the chimes, music and a fireworks display over the sea. It is one of the most beautiful New Year’s Eves on the Costa del Sol.

Cultural programme

Throughout the Christmas period there are choral concerts, children’s performances, workshops, sports competitions and other events organised by the Concejalía de Tradiciones Populares and local associations.

Historia

¿Sabías que en 1965 Nerja fue escenario del árbol de Navidad más grande de Europa? 🌲 Un imponente pino araucano de 34 metros de altura, adornado con 3,000 luces de colores y miles de metros de guirnaldas, deslumbró a todos con su magnitud. Fue un auténtico espectáculo que marcó un hito en la historia de las celebraciones navideñas en la localidad. ¡Una Navidad para recordar!
